At the start of my audiobook spree I went through 3 audiobooks in succession and realised all the author were lawyers by training. It's interesting the divergent paths they took in their lives. I will do a quick review of all 3. All 3 audiobooks are narrated by the authors.
JAMES COMEY : A HIGHER LOYALTY
I downloaded this book on a whim and did not expect to be as engrossed as I did. James is a pretty good writer and his book was fast paced, from this childhood days to his days in the FBI. It's good to get "behind the scenes" look at the working of the FBI and James' interaction with 3 successive presidents, Bush, Obama and Trump. Trump of course unceremoniously fired him. James also led the investigation into Clinton's email scandal. Oh, and he also prosecuted Martha Stewart while he was Attorney General.
BECOMING MICHELLE OBAMA
This is another autobiography and frequently recommended. True it's title , it details her story growing up in the South Side of Chicago, graduating Harvard Law School and later supervising an intern at Sidley Austin law firm who would later become her husband and the President of the United States ( I think this sentence was too long). This book is the longest of the 3 and I found it quite slow moving for the first half. I listened to most of it at 1.5 x playback. It covers the ascendence of Barak Obama
THE WAR ON NORMAL PEOPLE
I came across Andrew Yang when I heard about an Asian guy running for president in the Democratic primaries. Thanks to Andrew I went to the rabbit-hole of American politics and it's not pretty. The book is an easy read/listen and Andrew presents what he believes are the main issues faced by the American people. The main gist is automation is/will be the main cause of job loss and these lost jobs will not be as rapidly replaced. He believes Universal Basic Income is the way forward not just to ease the transition through the 4th Industrial Revolution but also to fight poverty. Of the 3 books this would probably be my first pick.
